Proud Meowments

So I find myself in the mood to blog right now. Yet, I don't have much to write about.

However, I did leave one thing out of my last post that is a pretty major update with me. Like I have mentioned before, I work in a coffee shop with in a grocery store, which happens to be Wegmans Food Markets (aka the god of all grocery stores). I have worked there for the past 8 years, making my way around the store from cashiering, to working in the Deli, then Prepared foods, then the Coffee Shop. And most recently, I decided I would like to keep moving up with in Wegmans, because it really is such a great company to work for (in fact, it has been a Fortune 500 company for the past 16 years as of 2013). But with the job market being so dumb lately, I figured, why not shoot for Corporate Wegmans? So this became my goal as of a few months ago, and I started looking for opportunities to grow with in the company, and sort of start the stepping stones towards my ultimate goal.

Luckily, a few weeks ago, a posting went up for a Front End Coordinator position at my store. This basically puts you a step below the Service Team Leaders (aka managers), and a step above cashiers. You help coordinate the cashiers to what ever registers they have to go to, you send them on breaks, and you help them out when ever they need assistance with a customer or their register. I had been hoping for an opening in this position to come up, so when it did, I was ON it. I applied right away, and through out that same week, I had the store manager, assistant store manager, front end manager, and HR Director all approach me making sure I had applied for the position because "my name was being thrown around" for the job. Following that week, I had the chance to interview for the position, and two days later (Valentines Day), I found out I got the job!

Now, I don't have many moments where I am genuinely proud of myself, but this was definitely one of those moments where I really commended my efforts to land this position, and I did not hide my excitement about it.

I haven't started yet, but Tuesday, March 5th, is my first day! I am a little nervous, since everyone is saying "I've got this"... It's putting some pressure on me to make sure, well, that I really do "got this". Hopefully all goes well, and I can continue on to become a Service Team Leader next!

So that's my mini update, I thought I'd keep you all in the loop.  So wish me luck!

PS. Sorry for the lack of pictures...I've been cat sitting for the past week, so I guess I can show you how that's going:
Meow.
This cat likes to just look longingly into my eyes...

a little nuzzle action after feeding him some tuna.
Oh yes, that's the spot.

I wish I could include some of my snap chat videos that I took with this guy, because he was just running across my lap, back and forth, whacking his tail in my face every time. Such a ridiculous cat, but he's great.

Also, if you haven't figured out by the title, I enjoy cat puns.

That's all for *meow.

Procrastination at its best.

I suck.

It has been weeks since my last post, and really, I don't have much of an excuse for my hiatus. The last I posted was right before the Super Bowl, and I even had the intentions of writing a post-super bowl post! So I guess I can start there and try to fill you all in on my life these past few weeks.

Luckily I am addicted to documenting basically everything I do on a daily basis via instagram, so let's reference my pictures to help jog my memory, shall we?

Oy, there's a lot to put in this post I am realizing, lets see if I can finish this before work at 2:30....eek.

Starting with Superbowl weekend:

Saturday I made a long overdue trek to the land of Oz. Aka my alma mater, Oswego. Through a series of many failed attempts to hang out with my girl Lindsey, I made sure my ass made it to that small college town to pay her a visit. Lindsey is one of my past roommates and besties from my college days, and she also lives with one of my other former roomies, Paige. So I got to spend an ultimate girls night out with those two and a few other girls. Linds and I made dinner together (I know, so romantic right?) and spent a great deal of time trying to figure out how to make a continuous chain of paper hearts for her valentines day card to her boyfriend.
many failed attempts. #valentinesdayprobz

SUCCESS. And yes, we googled tutorials...
We had so much fun at the bars, and I ran into a lot of old friends. One of the highlights of the night (and I wish I had a picture), was when I overflowed the toilet in one of the bars and had to book it out of there. Mind you, I only had to pee, and the thing was on the verge of overflowing anyways, I just didn't really realize that until I was pulling up my pants and reaching to flush. And I kid you not, this toilet WATERFALLED on the floor of the minuscule bathroom in a matter of 2 seconds and water came GUSHING out right along with me when I opened the door. I seriously felt like I was in a movie/worst nightmare.....At that point Lindsey was waiting at the door for me, ready for the next bar, and I grabbed her and yanked her outside with me in full on panic and embarrassment. Oops. Makes for a funny story though. But all and all, it was a successful visit to see my girl Lindsey :).

Roomies for life ;)

And Kate N. if you're reading this, I am sorry I didn't get to see you! My next visit will be for you my dear! <3
On to Super Bowl Sunday:

I was invited to a party that my sister's friends, Tina and Drew were throwing. I was excited to get invited to this since most of my roommates had to work or had alternate Super Bowl plans. We all had to bring a dish to pass, so I decided to make my lovely little apple crescent rolls that I mentioned in one of my previous posts. Those were definitely a hit, and they even looked like mini footballs!....which I TOTALLY planned.........ahem. But oh my goodness, the food at this party. Let us take a moment to go over that, (because really, who cares about football on Super Bowl Sunday, I'm all about the commercials, food, and drinking).

Those "egg rolls" are actually, RUBEN ROLLS, with thousand island dipping sauce..yeah.

Why I love my sister so much:
She made these
French Toast mini cuppies, with maple syrup frosting and topped with BACON.
Brownie. Batter. Dip.
Like a never ending Dunkaroo!
And those are only a few of the delicious and addicting dishes available at this party. So once again, this is why I love the Super Bowl.

I actually was pretty proud of myself on SB Sunday, I watched the entire first half of the game in the living room with all of the boys and my sister, and one other girl. The rest of the women were in the kitchen...(where all the delicious food was, so really, who can blame them?). But I brought a nice full plate of nom nom's into the living room with me and sat my butt down and watched the game. So be proud all of you football watchers, be proud.

Then came the half time show.... aka, the #1 thing I was looking forward to that entire day: Destiny's Child, Reunited.
Destiny's Child Pandora Radio...
a wonderful thing.
I wasn't lying when I said I was looking forward to
this ALL. DAY.

And oh my goodness, was I right to anticipate that half time show to be one of the best ones yet...BECAUSE IT WAS. Okay, deep breath Melissa. But really, I think everyone can agree with me when I say, Beyonce killed it. 14 minutes of straight singing and dancing... insanity. It was hilarious to realize that the entire room fell silent, with their mouths open, (a few droolers if I'm not mistaken...possibly myself being one of them..) by the end of those 14 minutes. So, those are my thoughts on the half time show. High five, Beyonce.

Onto the second half of the game...I was all ready to go, had my momentum up from the first half and that amazing half time show...AND the Ravens were in the lead, 49ers can suck it.

And then the black out happened.

This is bad for when Melissa is watching football, or any girl who is half interested in the sport, because the A.D.D and need for more food and drinks kick in while waiting for the darn lights to come back on in the "Super Dome". And once those lights did come back on, there was no hope anymore, I had joined the rest of the ladies in the kitchen, with the food, watching Jenna Marbles videos on YouTube via our iPhones:
The women's huddle.
But hey, all I cared about was the Raven's winning and the 49er's losing...Let's just say I had some personal satisfaction when the Niner's had to run home crying to their mommies. Simply because I knew a certain fan of theirs was doing exactly the same thing. :)

Lets see, what else has happened since I abandoned this blog temporarily....Let me refer to my pictures again....

Oh! Nemo. I hate snow, I hate storms. Therefore, I hated snow storm: Nemo. I feel like my main issue with snow is driving in it. Brushing pounds of snow off my car, while getting snow down my boots and soaking through my clothes, then the process of scraping ice off one half of your window for a good 10 minutes. And the actual driving part...streets not being plowed in the city...aka I think I am going to spin out and die every 3 seconds...people being idiots and not turning their lights on in white out conditions, again, I feel like I am going to die every 3 seconds.
my emotions after brushing off my car and before driving.
Stupid Nemo.
HOWEVER. If I didn't have to drive in the scary snow, I think I would really not mind the fluffy white stuff because the morning after Nemo was absolutely breath taking. It was the true definition of a "Winter Wonderland", and it genuinely made me smile. :)

My neighborhood the morning after Nemo.
more of my street:)

Me the night after nemo,
thoroughly enjoying walking in a winter wonderland!
Kelan, not so much.
I think that is all I will include in this post...I'll try to continue to catch you all up on what I haven't updated on in future posts! And I am making sure I don't go that long with out posting again!

Ps. this post took me 3 days to write....again, I suck.
