We'll call it: "A Leave of Absence"

Oh man.

This "blogging venture" of mine has been QUITE the failure so far.

You know you haven't blogged in forever and a day when your last post explained the "new job" I "just got", when your following post talks about your "NEW new job" that I actually...just got.

That's right folks, Melissa got a Big Girl Job! FINALLY. #praisejesus. I never thought I would see the day, but it finally happened people. It happened so randomly, and fast! Every so often, I get in these "job search kicks" and spend hours looking through the emails I get from all of those "I need a big kid job" sites. During these sporadic job hunts, I find a few that I could see myself doing, even if it is a little stretched as far as what I received my degree in. So I did just that, and whata ya know?! I found a job! Someone actually wanted to hire ME?! Cray. I know.

Also, I apologize for the excessive use of quotations in this post...already. Warning: there will probably be more.

So yes, that is my most recent, exciting news! However, since it literally has been about 6 months since my last post, let us go over what has occurred over that long ass period of time...shall we?:

Lets start at the month I left off on....
Wowie.
That would be March:

Okay. So March brought on my new position at my "not so big girl job", I told you all about this in my last post. And for the record, I still have said job, I just work that on the weekends now. I will probably end up working an evening once a week as well...Okay, I'm already getting side tracked. But yeah, that's pretty much it for March...started that job....the end.

Oh and St. Patricks Day, one of my favorite holidays! I got my drink on, like everyone else does on the day of the parade (the 16th), then on actual St. Patricks day, I ventured with Kelan and Becca to the Outlets and Niagra Falls for the day!
I tend to get festive on favorite holidays.....

Great day.
I love living near one of the 7 wonders of the world...
April:

(side note: once again I am referencing pictures and Facebook to remind me about my life, so that I can tell you all about it....."all" aka the 2 people who actually read this.)

AH APRIL, OKAY: I need to stop with the side notes.

April was actually pretty un eventful....according to Facebook.. so we'll skip this month.

May:

The best month out of the whole year! Aka, my birthday month, as well as everyone else's birthday month! This included 2 of my roommates and a good friend of mine! So this meant we were celebrating our birthdays every weekend out of the month! While my birthday ended up being a very fun time, I must say celebrating Kelan's birthday was the highlight out of all of the celebrations. This is because my friend Caitlin and myself came up with the best birthday scavenger hunt ever! We had Kelan and our friend Emily competing against one another on their birthday weekend, having them complete the most ridiculous tasks while we were out on the town. I highly recommend participating in a scavenger hunt for your next major celebration!

May was also a pivotal moment in my life...My dog fever ended up taking over, and I caved. I used my birthday as justification that I wasn't insane for getting a puppy when I only had a part time job, student loans, and other bills to pay...... But hey, I made it work, and put all of my savings towards:

This Guy.
I would like to formally introduce you all to Buster Rhymes. I rescued him from a rescue organization that retrieved him, his siblings and [biological] mother from a high kill shelter. The minute I saw that face online, I was in love, and had to get him. He came with the name Buster, so naturally I made Rhymes his middle name.

The picture above is from the second day I had him (4 months), so let me show you all what he's looking like at 8 months:
Big Ears McGee
Also: I have no clue what mix of breeds he is, but my closest guess has to be Pug-Shepard mix.

I will do a more in depth Buster post some other time, seeing is that I am still in the process of catching this blog up on the past several months. (For the record, Buster is the main reason I haven't had time to blog.)

Another crazy happening that occurred in may was this:

My apologies....
Yes, that would be a key...lodged into my hand. I did this in the most ridiculous way: by slipping down my wet porch steps, holding my keys, on my way to work. Couldn't do it again if I tried. So yeah, that was a fun time.........

June:

June had a pretty sad beginning to it. My family doggies got put down right in the beginning of the month. This was one of the hardest situations I have had to encounter in a long time. I had gotten to know these pups for the past 14 years, so it was definitely a rough time. But it was really for the best,  I know, everyone says that, but it's true. My dogs, Buddy and Dooley had no more quality of life any more, and it got to the point where we knew they needed to move on to a better place, together. I still miss them terribly. It has been the hardest on my mom though, she treated those boys like they were her children.

My boys. <3

Sorry for the damper on this post all of the sudden...that is just a major part of these past few months that can't be ignored or overlooked.

July:

Nothing exciting....

August:
Started off with a bunch of birthdays, including my mothers, and best friend's son, Harrison's 1st birthday! It was crazy to realize a year had flown by so quickly!

At a year he is finally starting to like Aunt Melissa! YAY!
August is also when I got the new big girl job that I mentioned earlier! And my first few days on the job was spent in New York City!!  Where I got to witness this:

Batman Forever.
And this:

So that was a pretty stellar way to kick off the new gig!

And then we come to September, aka month in progress:

This month has had me basically getting in the new routine of juggling a full time job, part time job, dog, and social life (< to keep me sane). However, what I am dreading about this month is now less than a week away. I happen to be getting my tonsils out on the 18th...and I am absolutely terrified. I've had surgeries before, and have never really had a problem with them..because it didn't involve anything having to be done near or via my face. I keep having small realizations about things I won't be able to do after my surgery that keep adding to my terror...my main fear being that I will mainly be on a liquid/soft diet...meaning I can't eat what I want to for 2-3 weeks! And lets get one thing straight people, I love my food. Today I specifically had this realization: I won't be able to consume any food after midnight the night before my surgery...Yes, I have been through this before, and it sucks. I find myself absolutely starving going into surgery, but something that had always eased my mind in the past, had been the comforting thought that I'd get to binge eat my food of choice directly after my surgery, and all would be good! But the realization I had today: I am having TONSIL surgery....so I am going to be starving going into surgery, and coming out of surgery, I won't want anything near my throat....so I'm declaring my involuntary-anorexia now people.

Can you tell I am not looking forward to this?

The one good thing about my surgery is that I'll hopefully be able to blog more...yet no one will want to read it because I will just be a whiney baby the whole time.

So I will end this ridiculously obnoxious long post...in hopes that I never take a "leave of absence" this long ever again.

Until next time.
